@Mako88 wrote: if you create an editable region in a template with content in it, every time you leave the page on the admin panel it will ask you to save the data until you do.

You know, I'm not positive because I wasn't thinking about it then, but I bet this is what was happening in my case. I was working on new templates and kind of modifying them as I went along. I haven't had this issue come up again since then.

Thanks, @Mako88. I think you found the problem.
Glad I could help! On the same subject: @KK, do you think you could make it so that when a page is first created whatever content that's in the template is automatically saved to the database so it doesn't ask to save it the first time?
Thanks for the lead :)
I'll dig deeper into this issue now.
@Mako88, what do you mean exactly by "create an editable region with content in it"?

Defining a new editable region cannot relate to this problem. The new input will be present when the page is loaded and it will accordingly, still be present when you attempt to leave the page. Unless you change some data, it should not prompt you about unsaved changes.

Furthermore, the mentioned prompt does not effectively force you to save changes by repeatedly asking you to do so until you comply; you always are offered the options of leaving or staying.

With that said, this has brought to my attention an angle which has been overlooked - the act of deleting an editable region. This will undoubtedly cause the prompt to appear and thus requires some minor changes to fix the behavior.
