Notifications are distracting by their very nature. I like it. But nonetheless, I think it could be toned down a little.

1. Lose the progress bar. There's no need for it to make a spectacle of itself.
2. Shorten the duration. It's merely a confirmation of what I already suspected. 2000ms seems adequate to me.

In everyday use, save after save, you don't really need for it to make a big impression every time. You'll notice it. Of course, this is just my own subjective impression, but when I was playing around with it, I found the following settings most comfortable.

Your words resonate with my feelings too. The whole theme is trying to "..make a big impression every time". Previous version was loved for the opposite.
If the guys who do AdminLTE theme read this - please consider data first, flashy presentation last.
